Delivered exclusively by ACG Pathways, this foundation programme prepares international students for entry into the University of Auckland’s undergraduate degrees, ensuring they not only meet the entry requirements, but are also well equipped for the challenges of degree-level study. This course lays the foundations for success.

The University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies is taught at the ACG Pathways campus in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, close to public transport and a wide range of accommodation.

  • University pathways

    Students who successfully complete the University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies to prescribed standards are guaranteed entry into an appropriate University of Auckland undergraduate degree.

    The University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies is accredited by Universities New Zealand and is recognised for entry to all New Zealand universities.

  • Two offers of place from the start

    Students who enrol in the University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies will receive two offers of place – a letter of offer for the foundation course and a conditional offer of admission for the University of Auckland.  A confirmed offer of admission will be issued to students whose foundation results meet the standards required for each degree programme, as well as all other entry requirements.

  • Academic excellence – the key to success

    ACG Pathways recruits top specialists in each field of study, to make sure students achieve the best possible results. Programmes are tailored to individual student needs and abilities, and classes are delivered by a dedicated group of professional educators. Teaching is a mix of lectures, tutorials and self-study periods, with between 24 to 27 hours of contact teaching each week, and another 20 hours per week of self-study. Each student is assigned a tutor who provides counselling, support and guidance.

  • Scholarships

    The top student completing the University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies each term receives a NZ$5,000 scholarship towards tuition fees in the first year of their undergraduate degree at the University of Auckland.
